THE DOCTORS ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY OF NEW YORK is celebrating its 70th Anniversay Season. It was founded in 1938 by physicians interested in performing symhonic music. In recent years it has added community musicians representing the diverse professions in the metropolitan area. The Doctors Orchestra performs in four to six concerts annually, often donating its services for benefits. Depending on the pieces of music, the orchestra performs concers with between 50 and 60 members. The orchestra has performed in New York's major concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Town Hall and Avery Fisher Hall.
Maestro Peter Bellino is in his sixth season as Conductor and Music Director of the Doctors Orchestra. He is internationally renowned as both a conductor and composer and is on the faculty of the Mannes College of Music, where he is Chairman of Composition.
