Our soloist for February 28th: 

Violinist Siwen Xu received her early violin training at the Beijing Conservatory in China. After graduating, she came to the United States to study at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. Her former teachers include Dame Ida Haendel, Rafael Druian and Felicia Moye.

Ms. Xu has been a featured soloist with the Miami Chamber orchestra, the Deerfield Beach orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Dominican Republic and the New York String Orchestra under Maestro Alexander Schneider. Her solo performances were held at such concert venues as the Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy center and the White House. Her name has appeared on newspapers and magazines including the Miami Herald, the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Strad magazine.

Ms. Xu is also a former member of the Houston Symphony. She currently serves as concertmaster for the Weill Cornell Music and Medicine Orchestra and the North American Medical Orchestra.
