Soloist : Dror Baitel, pianist

Mr. Dror Baitel is an upcoming, young Israeli pianist. He has recently returned to the music scene after serving in the Israeli Army in its Excellent Musicians Group. He attended both the Juilliard School and Mannes College on full scholarships, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree.

He has played in various venues around New York and the states such as Alice Tully Hall, The United Nations, the Harrison Opera House in Virginia, Steinway Hall and Merkin Hall. Dror has participated in numerous Masterclasses and has had the chance to work with the renowned artists Yefim Bronfman, Eteri Andjapridze, Serge Babayan and Seymour Bernstein.

He won the Fidelman Competition as well as the Concerto Competition of the Mannes Community Orchestra. He is also a recipient of the American Israel Cultural Foundation award. He debuted last season performing the Rachmaninov Third Piano Concerto with Ensemble 212 at Merkin Hall. Dror is excited to be performing the Tchaikovsky First Piano Concerto with the Doctors Orchestra.

Soloist : Shawn Chang, pianist, composer

With a career of both pianist and composer, Shawn Chang has created an international career of distinction. As a pianist, he has appeared in the United States, Canada, and Taiwan with performances ranging from recital, chamber music to concerto. Since his solo piano debut at the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, Taipei, Shawn Chang has performed extensively throughout Asia and North America.

As a composer, his compositions encompass piano solos, vocal music, to chamber music. His recent piano arrangement of a Dutch folk song “tulpen uit Amsterdam,” premiered by pianist Ying Feng, received critical acclaim at the Prinsjesdagconcert in Hague. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Shawn Chang currently lives in New York City. He holds Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory and is now pursuing a Master’s degree at the Mannes College under the tutelage of Thomas Sauer. His main teachers have been Boris Zarankin, Ireneus Zuk, and Benjamin Pasternack.
